Psh~ I haven't updated this in over a year. XD

But that shall change! ...Probably. Eventually. When I get my scanner working. >.>

But seriously. I've taken a break from the tablet in order to further my drawing skills on paper first. Mostly using charcoal, pencil, and pen.

When I'm better at all of that, I will go back to slugging my way through tablet art, for which my goals are the various fanarts for my favorite books and the eventual creation of my own world. Said world is already in the developing stages (I'm on Culture right now, and just kind of jotting down ideas as they hit me), and it's going to be awesome (Warning: Flattering myself and my creations boosts my ego; this is a necessary process in all of my endeavors).

So this will eventually be updated. Maybe.

Go me!

So today was the opening of the 37th Annual Balloon Fiesta, here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Largest gathering of balloonists and air balloons in the world. International event. It took them fifteen minutes just to name all of the countries launching balloons.

And let me tell you: There is nothing quite like getting up at four in the morning just to watch six hundred and fifty air balloons take to the air at dawn.

Last year there were 900, but apparently they thought that was too many and cut down the amount of balloons allowed to take off. Le sigh.

So I went. I took pictures. I'll be putting them up throughout the week, and probably next week as well. Hopefully, I'll be able to go to one of the Glows sometime this week. They light up all the balloons so they glow, and I really want some pictures of that. :'D

Something To Do

I don't know how it happened. Suddenly, I was drawing the avatars of my Specter friends on Gaia; these cute little chibi things that I like the original drawings of better. But I found myself drawing them, and lining them in Illustrator, and giving them the basic colors, and then shading them in Photoshop. And I liked the results, mostly. I can't remember what I was doing, but I found this one pokemon picture somewhere (I think it was Eevee and Umbreon), and I absolutely loved it. So I started drawing pokemon. Vaporeon came first, and after I decided how to draw her, I got to work. Took me a while to get the head right, but I got it. Then I did the same routine as before: lines and base colors in Illustrator, shading in Photoshop. I played around a bit with a full backround color and some brushes, and suddenly I had just the look I was going for. And my first ever, completed work, with a background and everything.

I didn't want to stop. I still don't. I put up Eevee, and Castform (though I admit, Castform's background has a bit of a recycled look), and I'm working on Umbreon with a combination of Magikarp (you'll see). I finally have something to do this summer. Yay.

:]

So I haven't updated this journal in a while. Probably because I have absolutely nothing going on art-wise.

The creative juices haven't been flowing very well. In the Creative Area of my brain, all creative juices seem to have been stopped by the artery clogging Writer's Block. I'm considering drowning myself to break the block; it seemed to work for Nynaeve. Maybe if I get angry...Nevermind. I'd probably just end up with a bunch of angry scribbles. Or I'd turn into the Hulk. Hehehehe...no. That was lame.

I'm hoping I'll get my hand on a copy of Knife of Dreams soon, whether it be from the library or the one I let my brother borrow three months ago. I really need to reread it!! D:

That's all. Really. Fin.

I just recently noticed how much I enjoy working in monochromatic colors. Especially greyscale.

I just seem to like the transitions between black and white. Add a small splash of a vibrant color to the mix, and you've got my perfect color scheme.

And orange. Orange is a great color. You don't see it that often, but when you do, you're eye is immediately drawn to it.

That's all. Fin.
